Launched in January 2016, the Austin Neighborhood Choir is Chicago Children’s Choir’s newest after-school program.

Neighborhood Choir singers perform a number of times throughout the year while learning proper vocal technique, music reading and sight singing skills, and the discipline of singing with musicality, movement and expression.

The Austin Neighborhood Choir has performed at a number of events in the Austin community. In December 2017 and 2016, the ensemble performed for Loretto Hospital’s Annual Visit with Santa. In March 2015, they presented their first concert at Austin Town Hall, and later that spring, they were the opening act for Victory Gardens Theater’s Gospel of Lovingkindness community event in Austin. Recently, select singers performed in Merry, Merry Chicago! with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. As part of the 2018 Bridging America Tour, the Austin Neighborhood Choir traveled to Detroit.
