The Garfied Park Neighborhood Choir rehearses twice weekly at Off the Street Club (25 North Karlov Avenue). Off the Street Club, Chicago's oldest boys and girls club, provides a safe, supportive, loving environment where the neighborhood's children can grow up as far off the street as their imagination can take them. Singers in the Garfield Park Neighborhood Choir must become a member of Off the Street Club to join the Choir.

Since 2003, the Garfield Park Neighborhood Choir has served boys and girls from the East and West Garfield Park and surrounding neighborhoods. Neighborhood Choir members audition as early as 3rd grade and many continue into high school.

At the Neighborhood Choir level, boys and girls learn proper vocal technique, music reading and sight singing skills, as well as the discipline of singing with musicality, movement, and expression. Singers are offered numerous performance opportunities to exhibit the diverse repertoire reflecting the multicultural mission of Chicago Children’s Choir.

The Garfield Park Neighborhood Choir has been invited to sing for community functions in Garfield Park and beyond. The Choir will be perfoming in Douglas Park on May 7 2009 as part of the Chicago Youth Music Initiative led by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and will tour to New Jersey and New York this spring.
