The Albany Park Neighborhood Choir rehearses twice weekly at North Park University’s Anderson Chapel (on the corner of Foster and Spaulding). North Park University, founded in 1891, enrolls more than 3,100 students and strives for an environment where acceptance of diversity and ecumenism is encouraged.

Since 2008, the Albany Park Neighborhood Choir has served boys and girls from the Albany Park, Irving Park, North Park, Portage Park, Jefferson Park and surrounding neighborhoods. Neighborhood Choir members audition as early as 3rd grade and many continue into high school.

At the Neighborhood Choir level, boys and girls learn proper vocal technique, music reading and sight singing skills, as well as the discipline of singing with musicality, movement, and expression. Singers are offered numerous performance opportunities to exhibit the diverse repertoire reflecting the multicultural mission of Chicago Children’s Choir.

The Albany Park Neighborhood Choir has been invited to sing for community functions in Albany Park and beyond. Most recently, the Choir performed at Dreams for Kids Holiday for Hope which was featured on the newscast of ABC7 WLS-TV. The Choir’s social events have included caroling and a skating party.
